In Sri Lanka, the dry zone forests, the wet zone and the intermediate zone are also found. It is more common in protected areas such as Dimbulagala, Ritigala, Mahaberiyatenna. Although mango is used as a fresh fruit in other countries as well as in the production of value-added products such as jellies, jams, wines, pickles and food coloring, the amount consumed as a fresh fruit in Sri Lanka is negligible. However, in terms of nutritional value, mango is a highly nutritious fruit.
